Marvel’s Kevin Feige Talks About Black Widow’s Role And Potential Spin-Off Movie

All of the pictures and trailers for Captain America: The Winter Soldier we’ve seen so far have been filled with Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, not that we’re complaining. The preponderance of Black Widow does make us wonder how much of her Russian spy backstory will be explored in the film and how much Marvel plans to feature her throughout Phase 3. Now we have an update from Marvel’s president of production Kevin Feige.

Total Film magazine interviewed Feige about Captain America: The Winter Soldier and The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Among the quotes transcribed by CBM was this particularly interesting news hinting at a potential Black Widow spin-off.

“We start filming the next Avengers film at the end of March. [Black] Widow’s part in that is very big. We learn more about her past and learn more about where she came from and how she became in that film. The notion of exploring that even further in her own film would be great, and we have some development work with that.”

A Black Widow standalone movie? F**k Yeah Black Widow is way ahead of him. She responded to the photoshop kerfuffle by saying, “Contrary to popular opinion I think it could use more photoshop” and making this concept poster.

Much improved.
