FilmDrunk Video: We've replaced Wolverine's claw sounds. Let's see if he notices.

Yesterday, we posted the newest trailer for the X-Men Origins: Wolverine sequel, The Wolverine, directed by 3:10 to Yuma‘s James Mangold. For me, the most notable part of it was the over top “SHA-SCHWING” sound every time Wolverine extends his claws or swipes at anything with his claws. I don’t know anyone with retractable adamantium claws, so I can’t say for certain that it’s an unrealistic sound, but it does seem a bit impractical. You notice sound guys do that a lot in action movies, they add a swoopy metal sound to something that probably wouldn’t make a sound in real life (pulling out a pistol, say) to make it seem cooler. We’re pretty big fans of sound effects here at FilmDrunk, so I contacted our old supercut editor, Oliver Noble, to see if we could give Wolverine an EVEN COOLER claw-extension sound effect. After some back and forth between Oliver, Burnsy, and I, this video is what we came up with. Watch it while you still can, and let us know if you like it.
