Between The Raid: Redemption and The Raid 2: Berandal, it’s safe to say that director Gareth Evans knows what he’s talking about when it comes to great action and fight scenes throughout movie history. Evans recently took some time to chat with David Chen about his personal list of “Top 5 Action Scenes,” but it would be way more accurately described as his Top 5 Fight Scenes, because that’s basically what is being discussed here. And if there’s one thing to take away from this, it’s that Evans was highly influenced by Jackie Chan’s best work.
While I’m sure that this list opens the door for critics and haters to tell Evans why he’s so wrong, and complaining that he missed Movie A or Movie B, I like to imagine that he’d simply respond by slapping a person across the face with a hammer. My only complaint? A glaring lack of Big Trouble in Little China.
