TRAILER: How to Train Your Dragon 2: Dragons Be Trainin’

How to Train Your Dragon earned almost half a billion dollars at the worldwide box office and racked up a 98% recommended rating on RottenTomatoes, so Dreamworks would have to be allergic to cash money not to make a sequel. And if you’ve ever seen the bling on Jeff Katzenberg’s pimp cane you know this just isn’t the case.

So here we are with How to Train Your Dragon 2 – no subtitle, thank Christ. Why is it only animated films can manage this? Anyhoo, the first teaser gives us lots of flying dragons and goes light on Jay Baruchel’s nasally ribbiting, which seems like a wise choice. I tend to train my dragons brutally, with lots of negative reinforcement and corporal punishment, which is the only thing those monsters understand, but leave it to a kids movie to give us some sanitized bullshit. Oh well. The clip is sort of a cross between the skydiving scene in Point Break and the wing suit scene in Transformers, but with dragons, if that makes any sense.

What would you train your dragon to do? You know what I’d train my dragon to do. Two chicks, man.

The film arrives just under a year from now, June 20, 2014, and also features the returning voices of Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, TJ Miller and Kristen Wiig. Opens June 20, 2014. [RopeofSilicon]

Animated movies are great because they prove that CGI can be enjoyable without exploding buildings set to dub-step. WUB WUB WUB WUB…
