Paul Bettany Upgrading From Jarvis To The Vision In ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’

The typically reliable Baz Bamigboye reports (and Variety confirms) that Paul Bettany will play The Vision in Avengers: Age Of Ultron. Bettany voiced Tony Stark’s A.I. assistant J.A.R.V.I.S. in the Iron Man franchise and The Avengers, which lends more credence to rumors that the movie version of Ultron will be created by Tony Stark rather than Ant-Man‘s Hank Pym, as Pym won’t make his screen debut until after Avengers: Age Of Ultron opens on May 1st, 2015.

Bamigboye spotted Paul Bettany and Jeremy Renner at Shepperton Studios in England this week, where they were doing make-up tests for the movie After Party, which is the codename for Avengers: Age Of Ultron (and an appropriate codename as well). Make-up artists were giving Bettany’s already pasty ginger skin an even chalkier appearance to match the android Vision.

For those unfamiliar with The Vision, he’s an android created by Ultron (played by James Spader, pictured above). He can fire beams of radiation, manipulate his own density, and make himself invisible. Eventually he turns against Ultron and becomes an Avenger, marrying Scarlet Witch (played by Elizabeth Olsen). Kinky. Then, in a surprise twist, we find out he was a figment of Russell Crowe’s imagination all along.
