After last week’s news that the fourth Rambo movie would be called Rambo: To Hell and Back, it now seems Stallone and co. have gone back to the original title, John Rambo.  Stallone explains his original thinking:

I just was thinking that the title John Rambo was derivative of Rocky Balboa and might give people the idea that this is the last Rambo film, and I don’t necessarily feel that it will be. He’s not an athlete, there’s no reason he can’t continue onto another adventure. Like John Wayne with The Searchers. [CB]

Holy crap, I didn’t think "need to leave door open for future sequels" would be on the list of deciding factors during the Rambo IV naming process.  Silly me, I feel so naïve.  But then, I also still believe in true love.  Call me ladies.

Good ‘ol Stallone, all full of hubris.  Hubris and dyanabol.  But fear not, no matter how many times the name changes, the plot remains the same: "Rambo lives a solitary, simple life in the mountains and jungles, fishing and catching poisonous snakes to sell."  Seriously, that’s the actual plot. I guess it is kind of like John Wayne in The Searchers.  That’s the one where he plays an alligator wrestler, right?
