Simon Pegg vs. a Spooky Hedgehog

After the jump, I’ve got the trailer for A Fantastic Fear of Everything, co-directed by music video director Chris Hopewell and Crispian Mills, who, in addition to being the lead singer of obscure late-90s pop band Kula Shaker (remember “Hush?”), is also the son of original Parent Trap actress Hayley Mills. Basically, he’s obscure trivia personified. Aaaaaaanyway.

Jack (Simon Pegg) is a children’s author turned crime novelist whose detailed research into the lives of Victorian serial killers has turned him into a paranoid wreck, persecuted by the irrational fear of being murdered. When Jack is thrown a life-line by his long-suffering agent and a mysterious Hollywood executive takes a sudden and inexplicable interest in his script, what should be his big break rapidly turns into his big breakdown, as Jack is forced to confront his worst demons; among them his love life, his laundry and the origin of all fear.

The trailer is basically a “whimsy” mix-tape, and I still have no idea what it’s about, but I admit the mysterious pipe-smoking hedgehog as a recurring theme has me intrigued.

No US release date set yet, but it opens in June in the UK.
