Jared Leto famously nearly ruined his kidneys gaining 60 pounds to play Mark David Chapman in Chapter 27, a film co-starring Lindsay Lohan that failed to crack six figures in domestic box office and earned a 19% recommended rating on RottenTomatoes. Undeterred, Leto jumped right back onto that method acting horse and earned himself a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for playing a drug addicted trans woman named Rayon who died of AIDS in Dallas Buyer’s Club, a sentence that feels like satire but is true. In his acceptance speech, Leto said he hoped his acting award would inspire the brave people of the Ukraine.

Point being, you could no more stop Jared Leto from method acting than you could stop him from inspiring oppressed peoples. Not surprisingly, new tales of Leto’s unprecedented thespianic commitment are beginning to leak out of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, in which Leto allegedly plays the Joker.

Scott Eastwood, who plays a military man in the film, hints that the Oscar winner may have gone all method for his work in the superhero villain flick.

Ooh, he “may” have gone all method. Well gosh, we wouldn’t want to pin you down on something this important.

“I was sort of afraid to approach him because I didn’t want to mess with his thing going on,”

I mean sure, the last thing you want to do to someone who’s going under deep cover as a maniacal clown is to treat him like some kind of spectacle.

…Eastwood told E! News exclusively yesterday at the Maui Film Festival, where he was honored with the Rising Star Award.

I’m told Eastwood went straight from the Maui Film Festival to the Yacht Parked Off St. Barth’s Art Institute, where he accepted an honorary Dean of Acting position in the form of a commemorative rum punch glass. “I’d like to dedicate this to my best bro, Jaeden Schwarzenegger, for letting me crash in his pool house while my villa was getting fumigated last week,” Eastwood told the audience.

“But I knew him before. I met him before he was The Joker.”

“We were at this loft party in Soho where the Olsen twins were debuting their new line of artisanal leggings and he asked me if I’d ever danced with the Devil in the pale moonlight. At the time I just assumed it was a new 30 Seconds to Mars jam he was trying out and asked if he wanted to try my new vape rig.”

“I just met him as Jared Leto. So I didn’t know if I wanted to mess up his thing.” [E! Online]

Right, you wouldn’t want to destroy something beautiful.

Suicide Squad opens August 2016, meaning we’ve got another year of this. I can’t wait.
