‘The Kings Of Summer’ Has A Red Band Trailer

Once again invoking the imperfect nature of my award-winning Summer Movie Guide – recipient of Ancient Rome’s Naval Crown – The Kings of Summer is a film that I thought I included only to remember that I did not. Either way, it stars perennial UPROXX favorites Alison Brie and Nick Offerman, as well as his equally delightful wife Megan Mullally, in the tale of three teenage boys who become fed up with life at home and decide to go live together in the woods.

Three teenage friends, in the ultimate act of independence, decide to spend their summer building a house in the woods and living off the land.

I know what you’re thinking – this sounds a lot like Vince’s screenplay for the classic summer comedy, Camp Boner, but it’s not. It’s actually a seemingly heartwarming comedy that was well-received at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, when it debuted under the title, Toy’s House.

Kings also stars several “Hey I know that guy/girl” types, including Mary Lynn Rajskub (AKA Gail the Snail) and Kumail Nanjiani (AKA Pindar from Franklin & Bash). The film will have an extended-but-still-limited release on May 31, so watch the red band trailer in the meantime to think about how you won’t get to see it.
