Timur Bekmambetov’s flesh-eating squirrel movie has a poster

Squirrels is still in pre-production and doesn’t even have a director attached, but that’s not stopping producer (and Wanted director) Timur Bekmambetov from trying to Snakes on a Plane it into existence through sheer internet novelty value. (He’s also in talks to direct a Ben-Hur remake for MGM, incidentally).

Today’s poster follows yesterday’s sales trailer. No takers yet, it seems. C’mon, you guys! Can’t you see this is the kind of bold thinking Hollywood needs??

When a young man’s estranged father is killed under suspicious circumstances, he returns home for the first time in years to get to the bottom of the mystery. Hoping to uncover some logical explanation, he instead finds an army of flesh-eating squirrels hellbent on destroying everything in their path.

I can’t see it selling based on strength of concept alone, but then, this is the same guy who made a hit out of a group of hitmen with old-timey pistols taking orders from a sentient loom. What they really need is some names attached. I’m thinking Rutger Hauer, Yasmine Bleeth, and Gary Busey voicing all the squirrels. With cameo appearances by the surviving members of Squirrel Nut Zippers.
