After the jump, we’ve got the full-length trailer for Lovelace for you to cram all two minutes of down your eye-throats (ENTENDRE!). From Howl directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, it stars Amanda Seyfried as the infamous star of Deepthroat, Linda Lovelace, who, in a Tale of Two Mean Girls was at one point supposed to be played by Lindsay Lohan. Both of which casting choices seem pretty flattering to the real Linda Lovelace, not that she didn’t have her charms.
But this is the one that actually made it into production, and I have to say, Amanda Seyfried looks pretty damn cute as a brunette with fake freckles, not that that’s totally this thing I’m into or anything. The trailer begins with Seyfried’s character being interviewed by Chloe Sevigny, which has to be some sort of meta reference to Chloe Sevigny’s infamous BJ scene in Brown Bunny, hasn’t it? Some sort of retroactive, symbolic passing of the blow job torch?
In any case, the cast looks fantastic, and also includes Hank Azaria, Bobby Cannavale, Juno Temple, and Adam Brody. But let’s be honest, you had me at “starring James Franco as Hugh Hefner.”
Since we have a name for the “Spielberg Face”, I think there should be a name for the “Pornographers Shocked By the Caliber of Porn That They Are Witnessing” face. First popularized by Boogie Nights, I believe.
It cannot be overstated how much I love this picture.
Opens this August.
