‘Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate’ Rolls Out The Bad Guys In A Story Trailer

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag has turned out to be a tough game for Ubisoft’s flagship franchise to follow up on. Assassin’s Creed Unity was too in love with subtle improvements to notice larger problems, and Assassin’s Creed Rogue, while popular, was limited to last-gen systems. But Syndicate at least looks like a lot of fun and has plenty of villains who need a good stabbing.

None of these villains are based on real people, which seems something of a missed opportunity. Victorian England was rife with total scumbags and dangerous gangs of criminals that really deserve beatings and/or death from above with a hidden blade. Still, this trailer does an excellent job of explaining just who has to die and why they suck, ranging from incompetent doctors to our main villain, who guns down a messenger for interrupting his alone time. Dude, we get the need for privacy, but that’s just overkill.

It also looks like Ubisoft did its usual excellent job copying historical cities: We see everything from the notorious slums to buildings that are still in place today. We don’t see much in the way of gameplay, but don’t expect that to last: The game arrives less than a month from now, on October 23.
