The Next ‘Five Nights At Freddy’s’ Game Trades In Scares For Cutesy Turn-Based Battles

The original Five Nights at Freddy’s was born when series-creator Scott Cawthon took the cutesy, yet oddly creepy, cartoon critters from his early games and turned up the dial on their latent evilness. Well, after four Freddy’s games within the span of a year, the series is going full circle and once again presenting Freddy Fazbear and company as cuddly, kid-friendly characters. Well, sort of.

FNAF World is a traditional turn-based RPG featuring an eye-popping color palate with Freddy and friends as the heroes. Of course, there are plenty of hints that there’s still something seriously wrong with these characters. So yeah, the gag at the core of the Freddy’s franchise has become just a bit convoluted. Freddy and friends are cute, but also evil, but no, wait, they’re actually cute, buuuut maybe still evil?

What really matters is that kids love Freddy Fazbear, but most parents aren’t going to buy their kids merchandise with a murderous robo bear on it, so they’re taking the series in a more friendly direction. You can’t blame Cawthon for trying, and hey, if  this experiment doesn’t work, he can always can pump out some more jump scare-fests. FNAF World arrives to delight and confuse some time in early 2016.
