Honest Trailers Takes On ‘Splatoon,’ ‘Nintendo’s Unfinished Gem’

When we reviewed Splatoon, we found it compelling, but unfinished. How unfinished? Well, that’s what Honest Trailers gets into… before pointing out you’ll still play it obsessively.

The most jokes are made at the expense of Splatoon‘s limitations, which are arbitrary and ridiculous. Only two maps at a time? No way to communicate with your team? No way to skip cutscenes? The cringe-inducing anti-hipness of the dialogue? Really, this game is terrible. I’m totally going to stop after I play a few more matches.

But don’t worry, the Splatoon team will have plenty of time to actually get the details right. Nintendo sold out its first shipment in Japan, a country notable for being completely uninterested in online multiplayer shooters. That success is probably going to carry over worldwide, so get ready for a lot more unwelcome jokes about preteen girls and tentacles.
