Yes, that’s right, the publisher of Just Cause 3 is giving away an actual rocks-and-dirt island. I mean, sure, it’s an appropriate prize given all the Just Cause games have taken place on islands, but still, it’s kind of insane.

Players who pre-order or pick up the “Day 1 Edition” (basically just the first printing of the game) will get a code to enter the contest. The players that blows up the most sh*t and earns themselves the most “chaos points” over a three-month period will nab themselves a real-life island getaway.

Before you start dreaming of white sand, palm trees and hula girls, you might want to read some of the contest’s fine print. The makers of Just Cause 3 don’t promise the island will be “inhabitable, developed or reachable by any means other than a boat.” That doesn’t sound terribly promising. You’ll also have to pay all the usual taxes on the island. That sounds doubly unpromising.

Of course, if you win, you can just take the cash-equivalent prize of $50,000. I suspect most people would take the money, and yet, having your own island is an attractive prospect. Sometimes you just need somewhere to hold your outlaw martial arts tournament, or build your skull-shaped evil headquarters, y’know?
