New ‘Star Wars Battlefront’ Footage Brings The Battle Of Hoth To Incredibly Realistic Life

The first trailer for Star Wars Battlefront, which EA promised was all in-engine, looked pretty amazing, but what about some honest-to-goodness gameplay footage? Well, EA and DICE delivered just that to cap their 2015 E3 press conference, and the game is looking pretty astounding.

The footage took place during The Battle of Hoth. Or at least a battle on Hoth. Some of the stuff included in the demo, including a Darth Vader/Luke Skywalker lightsaber battle, definitely didn’t happen in The Empire Strikes Back, but the rest is familiar. Massive, plodding AT-ATs, dizzying aerial dogfights and a whole lotta snow, and it all looks absolutely stunning. I’d say Star Wars Battlefront looks just as good as the movies, but let’s be honest, at times these graphics actually look better than Empire’s dated stop-motion effects.

EA is promising Star Wars Battlefield can be played with up to 40 other people online, by yourself in single player missions or even splitscreen with your friends and family. I applaud the options they’re giving players.

So everybody, it’s honesty time. How badly did that footage make you soil your pants? Pretty bad, right? It’s okay, I understand.
