Blizzard’s ‘Overwatch’ Has A Release Date Thanks To A Leaked Ad

Overwatch is one of the most anticipated games of 2016. The next big thing from Blizzard (the guys behind World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, Diablo and other huge hits), Overwatch is a new team based “hero shooter” in the vein of Valve’s Team Fortress 2. Considering Blizzard has been hugely successful at pretty much every type of game they’ve tried, Overwatch definitely has the potential to really shake up the multiplayer shooter scene.

Despite all that hype, Blizzard has remained rather cagey about an Overwatch release date, or at least that was the case until IGN prematurely released an ad revealing the game’s release date

Whoops! Well, I suppose that’s one way to get a release date scoop. Since the leak, Blizzard has gone ahead and officially confirmed Overwatch‘s May 23 release date for PC, Xbox One and PS4. They also announced details of an open beta – folks who pre-order Overwatch can test out the game on May 3–4, while those who pass on pre-ordering can test out the grips May 5–9.

What do you folks think? Are you excited for Overwatch, or is Blizzard’s hot streak about to go cold?
