‘Street Fighter V’ Players Who Rage-Quit Online Matches Will Soon Be ‘Severely Punished’

Currently playing Street Fighter V online can be a bit of a rough experience, which is frustrating given the fact that playing online is one of the few things you can do with the game right now. Some of the issues, like server disconnections and long waiting times, have been mostly dealt with, but another flaw still remains — there’s no punishment for people who rage-quit the game. If you’re beating somebody’s ass, they can disconnect at the last moment and you won’t get credited with a win and they won’t pick up a loss. It’s a pretty huge oversight for a game looking to foster a competitive online community.

Well, thankfully, Capcom is now promising to “severely punish” quitters. A permanent, built-in solution is coming, but Capcom isn’t waiting to lower the boom.

“We are working on a permanent solution to this problem, though we don’t have an exact date to share with you at the moment. That said, we are going to take direct action starting next week to punish those players who are abusing the system. This punishment will be severe for the worst offenders, but we will need the community’s help with this. Over the weekend, please record every instance of rage-quitting you encounter. The best way to do this is to use the SHARE function on the PlayStation 4 after the match has concluded.”

Yup, until a real solution is created, Capcom expects people to record evidence of quitters and send it to them. That is…not ideal, and probably won’t make a dent in the problem. But hey, it’s something. Hopefully a better solution is coming sooner rather than later.
