‘Phineas And Ferb’ And The Marvel Universe Cross Over This Summer

Disney’s purchase of Marvel has had all sorts of odd and amusing side effects. For example, Marvel now handles the publication and distribution of Disney Princess magazines. But it was really only a matter of time before Marvel started crossing over into other Disney franchises… including, apparently, a Phineas and Ferb called Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel.

For those unfamiliar, Phineas and Ferb is about two highly intelligent stepbrothers who generally create some sort of outre technology, while their pet platypus secretly fights the crimes of the local mad scientist, Dr. Doofenschmirtz, who’s less Dr. Doom and more Dr. Bong in the supervillain department, if you catch our drift. It’s cute, and often packed with jokes for adults: It’s the kind of show where somebody literally has a party in their pants at one point.

So perhaps it’s not surprising the trailer is packed with continuity gags:

Admittedly, there’s some very odd choices here. Having a couple of middle-school kids squaring off against a freaking Nazi overlord is not generally something you see on the Disney Channel. On the other hand, it’s got MODOK, and everything is better with MODOK.

Yes, everything. This special will be airing sometime this summer.
