‘Resident Evil: Revelations 2’ Will Have A Mode That Charges Money For Continues

I’m looking forward to Resident Evil: Revelations 2 quite a bit, I really am, but unfortunately it seems as if Capcom’s less than user-friendly side has been doing some tampering with the title, as the game will have a mode that charges real-life money for continues.

Thankfully the game’s main story mode won’t include microtransactions, but the action-heavy Raid Mode will. If you die partway through a mission in Raid Mode, you need to use a life crystal to respawn – a certain limited number of these crystals can be earned in the game each day, but if you run out, you can oh-so-conveniently acquire more with your credit card. You can play without crystals, but then each death means returning all the way to the beginning of your mission.

Capcom is trying to write this off as no big thing, but Raid Mode was a major part of the original Resident Evil: Revelations, and it sounds like it will be an even bigger part of the sequel, with Capcom promising over 200 missions for the “optional” mode. In other words, there’s actually more content to be found in Raid Mode than in the story part of Resident Evil: Revelations 2, so Capcom’s claims that microtransactions won’t be included in the “main” part of the game ring a little hollow.

What do you folks think? Does this news change your plans to grab Resident Evil: Revelations 2?
