Meet ‘Spot,’ Google And Boston Dynamics’ Newest Nightmare-Fueling Robot

When last we checked in on Boston Dynamics, they were acquired by Google, who apparently had an interest in their terrifying BigDog robot and their other dog-like robot which throws cinder blocks because THAT’S A GREAT THING TO TEACH A ROBOT TO DO. Google has now unveiled the newest iteration of terrifying dog-like robots, a smaller version of BigDog named “Spot.”

Spot weighs in at 160 pounds (72.5kg), and Gizmodo relays the ominous warning that it has an electric motor and “built-in sensors allowing it to automatically navigate difficult terrain,” with a smaller size than BigDog to make it better at search and rescue or scouting. Sure. “Rescues” and “scouting.” Definitely not “finding” and “alerting the horde.”
