‘Bloodborne’ Is Getting A Patch To Fix Its Frustratingly Lengthy Load Times

Sony’s much-anticipated exclusive Bloodborne finally arrived yesterday, and I can assure you, based on my own tests, that it’s very much in the same vein as past From Software games like Dark Souls. That means you’ll be dying a lot, which unfortunately leads you to the game’s biggest drawback: loading times.

Every time you die and re-spawn in Bloodborne, the game has to reload, which can take up to 30 or 40 seconds in my experience. That wouldn’t be a big thing in most games, but again, this is a From Software title. Moving between areas will also send you to an overly-long loading screen.

Thankfully, Sony and From Software are on the case:

“The development team is currently exploring another patch for Bloodborne, seeking ways to improve load time duration, in addition to other performance optimizations and miscellaneous bug fixes. We will provide more information as soon as possible.”

Somewhat long load times isn’t really that big of an issue by modern gaming standards, but it’s nice to know that the makers of Bloodborne acknowledge it. Until the patch arrives, I suppose I’ll just have to stop dying every five minutes.
