Leonard Nimoy’s Son Is Making A Documentary About His Father

Adam Nimoy, the son of the late Leonard Nimoy, has announced plans to direct and produce a documentary about his father called For The Love of SpockWilliam Shatner has allegedly agreed to appear in the film which will have Zachary Quinto on board as narrator. Adam Nimoy spoke with Variety about the project which will focus on the enduring nature of Spock:

Adam Nimoy said that he and his father began discussing the project several months ago and agreed that it should focus on the enduring nature of Spock and Nimoy’s portrayal of the relentlessly logical human-alien first officer of the Starship Enterprise. The elder Nimoy had announced last year that he was suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease but had continued working on the project — even speaking with with his son about it two days before his death.

He also spoke of the stories and subject matter he will be referencing for the project:

“My father wrote two books — ‘I Am Not Spock’ and ‘I Am Spock’ — and we’ve got lots of recordings so there’s plenty for us to work with.”

Adam Nimoy is planning for For The Love of Spock to be released within conjunction of Star Trek‘s 50th anniversary which aired its first episode on September 8th, 1966.
