Zombies Mode Will Return In The ‘Dark’ World Of ‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3’

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 was announced last week by Activision with a brief teaser trailer. While the teaser lacked much with regards to details, the official website supplied brief synopsis for the game via its source code.

According to GameSpot:

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is the first title for next-gen hardware in the critically acclaimed Black Ops series. Developed by Treyarch, the award-winning creator of the two most-played games in Call of Duty history. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 deploys players into a dark, twisted future where a new breed of Black Ops soldier emerges and the lines are blurred between our own humanity and the technology we created to stay ahead, in a world where cutting-edge military robotics define warfare.

While there is mention of the game taking place in dystopian future, it’s still unclear how far into the future Black Ops 3 will go. It’s possible they’ll just pick up somewhere around 2025 to bring back many of the previous game’s characters.

It’s worth mentioning the three game modes referenced in the website’s source code: “Campaign, Multiplayer and Zombies.” It’s not a big surprise Treyarch is including the co-op zombie mode, as it’s been a staple in every game since World at War. That being said, here’s to hoping they bring something new to the table.

Activision’s world reveal for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is scheduled for April 26th.
