‘Agents Of SHIELD’ Is Getting Super Powers Next Season With ‘Secret Warriors’

Marvel is looking to keep moving forward into superheroic territory for Agents of SHIELD and it probably means a much bigger role for Skye/Daisy aside from Coulson’s squad. The network and Marvel released the poster and announced some goodies for Comic-Con revolving around the introduction of the Secret Warriors to the series.

The addition of the squad was hinted at in the finale with Coulson’s file regarding the “Caterpillars,” and it would seem that Skye will be poised to lead the team using her new Inhuman powers. Variety provided a few details behind what we can expect when the new season hits the air in September and also a peek at what fans can do to enhance their Comic-Con experience:

Season three of “SHIELD” will introduce new friends and foes based on the “Secret Warriors” comic series when it premieres on Sept. 29. In the aftermath of SHIELD’s battle with Jiaying and the Inhumans, Director Coulson (Clark Gregg) will search the world for more powered people and assemble an extraordinary new team to deal with threats unlike the world has ever seen. However, the Agents of SHIELD will soon find out they’re not the only ones tracking down these new Inhumans.

Since Coulson and his team are already seeking out new recruits, ABC and Marvel are launching their own initiative at San Diego Comic-Con, giving fans a chance to be part of the team. From Thursday, July 9 through Saturday, July 11, SHIELD ambassadors will be roaming the convention to find the most dedicated fans and rewarding them with limited edition “Secret Warriors” pins. You can track the ambassadors on Twitter by following the @AgentsOfSHIELD account.

The Secret Warriors first appeared in the Secret Invasion crossover event and featured Nick Fury at the helm against an Army of alien invaders:

Now the only member that is on the series at the moment is Daisy Johnson/Skye, unless we want to toss in Nick Fury, so the rest will have to be filled out from the existing cast and some new faces. I fully expect to see some of Skye’s Inhuman pals again, and I also think we’ll see some changes for the lovely Jemma Simmons (being swallowed by a space rock isn’t a fitting end for her character).

We’re sure to find out more at Comic-Con, so keep a look out in the future. Hopefully we get something more like the season finale and less like…whatever season one represented.
