‘Captain America: Civil War’ Did Actually Leave Out A Character

Captain America: Civil War is, at this point, basically Disney trying to sneak out another Avengers movie before their big two-part blowout in 2019 and the expensive contract negotiations that will almost certainly follow. Almost every major and minor character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is showing up, even ones we haven’t seen for years. But one, surprisingly, didn’t make the cut.

We’re not going to see any Nick Fury this go-round, possibly because Fury’s just sick of all this and would rather kick it in a tropical paradise somewhere while superheroes punch each other. Samuel L. Jackson explained it to Collider:

But I’m not in Captain America 3. I can’t figure that out, but I’m not. I guess I’m still out there, trying to figure out what happened to S.H.I.E.L.D. and who these other people are.

Jackson, in shocking news, would also like to renew his contract, and Disney presumably feels the same way. That said, we hope the contract negotiations happen in time for him to show up in Civil War. Even if he just pulls a Hedley Lamarr.
