‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 2’ Will Have Fewer Characters

One of the problems the Marvel and DC cinematic universes have these days is too many characters, to the point where it’s news when a major character doesn’t show up. And that was a problem in Guardians of the Galaxy, which had a massive cast. Fortunately, James Gunn has decided to trim it back a bit for part two.

Gunn laid it out in a fairly honest way:

…There’s just too many characters, so you can’t concentrate on one and really get to know that character. I really want to get to know the characters that we know better, and yeah, we will be introducing a new character…

Oh, come on, we all know it’s Star-Lord’s dad. But I can get on board with this. My biggest complaint about the movie was, in fact, too many characters with not enough to do. So if Gunn is trimming it back and letting the core cast shine, all the better. Just make sure we get more Cosmo, sir. You can never have enough Cosmo.
