Here’s Who Daisy Ridley Is Talking To In The ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Trailer

With Monday’s release of the third and final trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, nerds across the globe now only have to wait just under two months to cash in on the egregious amount of theater tickets they purchased late Monday night and early Tuesday morning. Even so, marketing for the J.J. Abrams film has left fans with more questions than answers — especially when it comes to who the three previews’ narrators are.

After some debate, it was eventually determined that Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) provided the deep, gravely narration for the first teaser. The second teaser featured reworked lines from Return of the Jedi delivered by Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). But who’s talking in the latest preview? Rey (Daisy Ridley) drops a few lines, but someone new is asking her the questions.

According to Screen Rant, that someone is none other than the CGI character Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong’o), whose performance in the film will be brought to life with motion capture technology. Disney Insider revealed the narrator’s identity in a blog post late Monday night.

Kanata is “a pirate with a large crew and who seemingly may only be on the side that makes her the most money.” Despite this, early indications (and her narration in this trailer) suggest that Nyong’o’s character knows something about the force, and that she could provide Rey with some much-needed guidance in the film.
