The Matrix sequels are of… debatable quality, and fan efforts to improve them have been ongoing for a decade. But this… this is the edit we need.
This was actually a challenge taken on by Phillip Raupauch as a college project and found by Sploid; if you study sound design at film school, you’ll be challenged at some point to take a familiar clip and completely recreate the soundscape with your own work. Raupauch just decided to show everyone up by adding in 8-bit and 16-bit sounds. No points for guessing the effect for when Neo does a long wire-assisted jump.
Honestly, Warner Brothers should just pay him, license the sound effects, and have an entire audio track on a Blu-Ray dedicated to this. We’d buy it.
