The Director Of ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Reveals The ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Team Thor Would’ve Picked

Captain America: Civil War was certainly a jam-packed superhero throwdown, but there were a couple major names missing from the brawl as both Thor and Hulk decided to stay out of the peeing contest. Marvel has promised there’s a reason for this, which will be explained in Thor: Ragnarok, but you can’t help but wonder — who would the two most powerful guys in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have sided with? Team Cap or Team Iron Man?

Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi has bravely weighed in on this particular nerd debate:

“We’ve talked a little bit about this. Personally, I feel Thor would have started his own team. He wouldn’t have liked the idea of those teams. But, even though Thor is from outer space and he lives in a palace, part of me likes to think he would side with Cap. I would side with Cap purely because I don’t trust billionaires.”

Makes sense. I do think Chris Hemsworth’s movie Thor would probably be more attuned to Steve Rogers’ libertarian ideals. Of course, in the comic-book version of Civil War, Thor was firmly on Team Iron Man. Well, sort of. It turned out Tony Stark’s Thor was an evil clone. Comic books are confusing.

We still don’t know which side Hulk would have taken. Personally, I’d like to think he would’ve ignored everybody and spent his time happily smashing planes during the airport fight.

Thor: Ragnarok arrives to fill us in on the details Nov. 3, 2017.
