The ‘Daredevil’ Team Graciously Responds To Frank Miller’s Dislike Of Their Show

Taking over a beloved character is never easy. You not only have fans to please, but the work of others before you looming over your shoulder. So, there were a lot of ways Daredevil’s showrunner Doug Petrie could have responded to Frank Miller insisting that, essentially, what they’re doing doesn’t count.

Petrie chose to be rather gracious about the whole thing:

I’m a huge fan of what he did, so the [criticism] doesn’t go both ways. I wouldn’t say, ‘What does Frank Miller know?’ I’m so inspired by him and what he achieved and I’m trying to take it further and enrich her.

Miller has been noted for his prickliness in the past, as he’s picked fights with everyone from Alan Moore to, well, who ya got? He’s even said he can’t watch The Dark Knight in the past, although in the case of 2003’s Daredevil, he was far from alone in being unable to watch it.

We’ll be curious to see how the show expands on Elektra, not least as there may be a hint as to one of her most dangerous foes hidden in Daredevil‘s marketing materials. We’ll find out how the Greek assassin has changed, or not, March 18.
