Even If The Spectre Doesn’t Make It To TV, We Still Have These Photoshops

Deadline reports Fox is working with DC Entertainment, Warner Bros TV, and Gerber Pictures to bring DC superhero comic The Spectre to TV as a drama. The Spectre, created by Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel (arguably with help from Bernard Bally), first appeared in DC’s More Fun Comics in 1940. He is “the physical embodiment of God’s vengeance on Earth” who was created when a police officer is locked in a barrel which was then filled with cement (or a “Dirty Corrigan” as the kids call that move). The Spectre has a ridiculous number of powers, basically a “whatever we feel like making him do this issue” collection of abilities, and likes to kill criminals in varied and creative ways, so Fox has quite a lot of leeway with how they can present the character.
Brandon Camp, whom we can blame for Love Happens, will be writing the script. Yeesh. But on the bright side, even if the TV show doesn’t happen (or it sucks), we still found a bunch of vintage covers featuring The Spectre (via CoverBrowser) and added helpful captions to make sense of what’s happening:
