Bryan Singer Can See Deadpool Joining The X-Men For A Movie

It’s a pretty obvious question, now that the Merc with the Mouth has has a global box office hit: When’s Deadpool showing up in an X-Men movie? Bryan Singer is open to the idea, but there are a few issues he foresees.

Variety asked Singer the obvious question, and he replied that it’s on the table, but there are a few important matters to consider when working in a guy as profane, violent, and prone to sawing off his own body parts as Deadpool:

…you have to do it carefully and gently. When you drop them all in together, it can be a disaster. That has to be done delicately, but there’s plenty of room to do it.

We know what you’re thinking, but beyond that, Singer does have a point. Part of the fun of Deadpool is that he’s doing stuff you don’t see in superhero movies. You’d have to water him down quite a bit if he was going to do anything more than a cameo in a PG-13 film. Singer also notes that the upcoming X-Men TV shows Hellfire and Legion can go where the movies don’t have the time to, although Legion is supposedly not in the same continuity as the movies.

Then again, a cameo is also really all you need. Deadpool and the X-Men both stand on their own, and Fox appears to be putting out more R-rated superhero movies. So if the Merc with a Mouth does decide to go bother Colossus again, at least he’ll be welcome.
