Do We Really Need Another RoboCop TV Series?

To those crying “old meme!”, eat me. Robocop with a unicorn will never not be funny.

Anyhoo, if you’re not aware, despite our mentioning it every time we bring up “The Hobbit”, MGM is really, really screwed. In theory, they have a plan to come out of bankruptcy, but we’re skeptical they can pull it off. But if they do, one of the results will be . . . attempts to spin off its various properties as TV series, and “RoboCop” will be one.

There was already an attempt to make a successful RoboCop TV series. In Canada. And it was designed to appeal to kids, so there wasn’t any of the excessive violence that appealed to kids. Even better, it was so incredibly preachy and self-righteous on the left end of things it’d make Keith Olbermann vomit. He even had a spunky teenage girl for a sidekick. Needless to say, it died after one season.

We doubt this new RoboCop TV show would be quite so bad (although we’re pretty sure the proposed “Silence of the Lambs” and “Dances With Wolves” TV shows would be mind-blowingly awful). Still, we’re not sure MGM will escape with all its beloved properties intact, so this isn’t set in stone.

If they do a TV show, it’d better have that Basil Poledouris score, that’s all we’re saying. TV scores don’t have enough hammers slamming into anvils.
