Double Fine’s Adventure Game Is A Sci-fi/Fantasy Mashup Called ‘Broken Age’

So, last year Tim Shafer hit semi-obscure-at-the-time crowd funding site Kickstarter and was “hey, would you like to give me $400,000 to make a new adventure game?” The project ended up amassing over 3 million in donations.

Countless other games have been successfully funded through Kickstarter since, but what about the game that started it all? We’ve seen bits of pre-production footage and art, and hints about the story, but not much else. Well, at long last, over a year since the project went up on Kickstarter, Double Fine’s adventure game has a title and plot synopsis.

Hit the jump to find out what Broken Age is all about…

Broken Age is a point-and-click adventure telling the stories of a young boy and girl leading parallel lives. The girl has been chosen by her village to be sacrificed to a terrible monster—but she decides to fight back. Meanwhile, a boy on a spaceship is living a solitary life under the care of a motherly computer, but he wants to break free to lead adventures and do good in the world. Adventures ensue.

Sounds interesting to me. Some are complaining that the concept doesn’t sound “funny” enough, but then Schafer’s best games have always blended plenty of drama and sincerity in with the funny.
