There Is Still Hope For A Brighter, Happier Sequel To ‘Fantastic Four’ According To Simon Kinberg

If you saw Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four or the Honest Trailer for the film, you know it was a bit of a disaster. You also know that it apparently wasn’t Josh Trank’s film by the end and he’s not to blame, right? Either way, it was Fox’s latest attempt at bringing Marvel’s first family to the big screen and it supposedly killed any chances of a sequel — or a new comic series — in the near future. Or at least that’s what everybody thought the day the movie was released.

Simon Kinberg would have you believe differently and as The AV Club points out, might be the most positive person in the world. It’s not surprise that Fox is going to attempt another Fantastic Four movie, but Kinberg thinks it will be a sequel to this version of the team. As reported at Den of Geek, Kinberg wants to bring back the cast and create a more true Fantastic Four experience:

“We want to make another Fantastic Four movie. We love that cast – I mean if I were to say to you now Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller, and Kate [Mara] and Jamie [Bell] are great actors – we love that cast. I love the comic, I mean I love it almost as much as X-Men.”

“We’ll try to be truer to the essence of the tone of Fantastic Four, which is completely – well, not completely, but largely – distinct from the X-Men, which is brighter, funner, more optimistic tone. I think we tried to make a darker Fantastic Four movie, which seemed like a radical idea but we were kind of messing with the DNA of the actual comic instead of trusting the DNA of the comic.”

We almost got H.E.R.B.I.E. once in these films, so this might finally be the time it happens. Also bring back Willie Lumpkin and make everybody smile a bit more. No need to force them all to be government tools of destruction. Send the team into another dimension full of bright colors and give the gaudy outfits they’ve showcased in the comics over the years. You know the Thing would look great in a pair of giant white boots.

Also we need to give him the power he had in the old Hanna-Barbera Thing cartoon.
