PCs, handhelds, mobile, console, indies, triple A, free-to-play — the gaming scene gets more diverse and difficult to follow by the day, but thankfully I’m here ever week to guide you through what’s happening with games.

As always, I’ll rattle off five games I think you might want to check out this week. Keep in mind, these articles aren’t meant to be comprehensive lists of everything coming out that week so much as a nice rounded tasting menu. So, let’s get to it…

This Week’s Very Japanese Thing

Omega Quintet (PS4, April 28th)

Omega Quintet is about a Japanese singing group that dresses up in Sailor Moon-ish costumes and fights an evil force known as the Beep with choreographed dance numbers. Oh, and also, your girls’ costumes can get torn off when they’re attacked by enemies. Aren’t other cultures fascinating?

This Week’s Survival Horror Game

Solarix (PC, April 30th)

Solarix is a new sci-fi survival horror game, in which you play an engineer trapped aboard a space station that’s been ravaged by some sort of infection. The makers of the game are promising open-ended stages that allow you to choose between combat or more sneaky gameplay. Solarix isn’t the most original horror concept, but it looks pretty solid for an indie title. Here’s the game’s Steam page.
