‘Ghostbusters 3’ Scheduled To Film Without Bill Murray, Who Is Still The Lone Sane Voice In The Wilderness

A third Ghostbusters movie has been rumored since at least 2008. Ivan Reitman confirmed that he’d direct but he needed Bill Murray to approve the script. Last year, Murray told Howard Stern that he had the script but hadn’t read it. Shortly afterwards, Dan Aykroyd went on “The Dennis Miller Show” and said “Ghostbusters 3 is filming in 2012” which was amazing because we didn’t know Dennis Miller could still get a show. Then a rumor went around about Bill Murray shredding the script and saying “No one wants to pay money to see fat, old men chasing ghosts!”, a rumor which Aykroyd denied. Now we’re hearing that Ivan Reitman will be directing Ghostbusters 3 next summer, without Bill Murray.

Paramount chose not to make [Draft Day] in the small window that Reitman has before he is expected to finally get the long-gestating Ghostbusters reboot in front of the cameras next summer for Sony Pictures (sans Bill Murray). [TOLDJA.com]

This was presented as a sidenote in an article about a sports movie staring Kevin Costner, as if it were widely known that the Ghostbusters reboot was definitely going ahead without Murray. In this difficult time, it behooves us to update our expanding list of things we know about Bill Murray:

  • He will crash your house party.
  • He will crash your karaoke party.
  • He will crash your kickball party.
  • Dude loves to party.
  • He headbutted McG.
  • He might walk up to you in a restaurant, steal a french fry off your plate, then say, “No one will ever believe you.”
  • He is avoiding the trainwreck Ghostbusters 3 will almost assuredly be.
  • He is awesome.
