The 'Gotham' TV Show Casts Its Teenaged Batman And Catwoman

Fox’s Gotham TV series has cast its teenaged Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle. David Mazouz, the 13-year-old who played Kiefer Sutherland’s mute son on Touch, will play Bruce Wayne. Selina Kyle will be played by 14-year-old Camren Bicondova, who was previously a dancer for something called “8 Flavahz”, and no I’m not googling that and having underaged girl dance groups in my search history. Feel free to question my commitment to Sparkle Motion.

The casting breakdown describes Selina Kyle as a teenaged thief who is also “wholly unpredictable” and “dangerous when cornered”. But don’t expect to see these teens playing Batman and Catwoman right away. The press release stressed Gotham is about James Gordon, and Fox chairman Kevin Reilly has already said the young Bruce Wayne won’t put on the cape until the series finale, with the entire series building up to that moment.

Mazouz and Bicondova will be joining a cast which includes Ben McKenzie as Detective Jim Gordan, Donal Logue as Detective Harvey Bullock, Jada Pinkett Smith as gangster boss Fish Mooney, Robin Lord Taylor as The Penguin, Sean Pertwee as Alfred, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, and Zabryna Guevara as Captain Sarah Essen. The cast might also include a very young Poison Ivy and other rogues, if the allegedly leaked script is real.

Those pictures above may not make them look like you’d picture Batman and Catwoman as teens. To be fair, while looking for pictures of these kids we could secure the rights to use, I noticed several shots we couldn’t use where they looked the part (especially Bicondova as Selina Kyle). I’m also probably on some kind of watchlist for image searching child actors’ names, so that’s fun.
