Gotham has never been shy about being over-the-top. But, back after a two week absence, it’s back and barreling towards a finale. Where to start?
First off, the Penguin has been brainwashed into being a nebbish, only to stumble across his absurdly rich biological father, played by Paul Reubens, by total coincidence. Last episode, Penguin’s stepmom poisoned his dad by accident, trying to bump off Oswald, but we seriously doubt that’s going to be the end of the story.
Gordon has narrowly survived breaking out jail by faking his own death and is back in Gotham to clear his name. How, precisely, he’s going to do that since he’s totally guilty is an open question. Bruce has run away from home to steal things and be an adorable Gotham urchin, which Alfred isn’t happy about. Nygma has gone full Riddler, having framed Gordon, and is in the process of completely losing his mind. Oh, and the mad scientists at Arkham have decided Gordon’s homicidal ex Barbara is cured, so now she’s in play.
In short, it’s going to be a sprawling season finale, and we can’t wait to see what happens. We’ll find out where this arc is going tonight at 8pm on Fox. Join us, won’t you?
