Since all the IMAX theaters near where I live are either in furniture stores I refuse to patronize or in towns straight out of Lovecraft’s nightmares, I missed out on the Guardians Of The Galaxy IMAX preview. Fortunately, marketing departments are leaking a little more new footage ahead of the movie’s August release.
Mostly we’re getting a better sense of Ronan the Accuser, which is good since he kinda hasn’t come up in the marketing materials much. We all know how good Lee Pace is when you give him a fancy outfit and a little makeup, although he still doesn’t get to do much here other than deliver a stock line and fire off magical purple bolts, and we don’t see much of Nebula, either. But, hey, they’ve got to save something for the theater.
Also, if the rules of screenwriting apply, somebody’s blowing up a moon. Really, this movie should be defined by how many things the Guardians accidentally or intentionally blow up. We’ll see how it does on that index August 1st.
