Steven Spielberg Promises Nobody But Harrison Ford Will Ever Play Indiana Jones

As we speak, thousands of young actors are trying out to be the new Han Solo, which begs the question, is Harrison Ford’s other iconic character going to be recast, as well? Will we get another Indiana Jones? Seventy three is a little old to be swinging on whips and punching out Nazis, after all.

Well, don’t worry, according to Steven Spielberg, we’re never going to have to deal with some punk kid wearing the dusty fedora (aside from The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, of course).

“I don’t think anyone could replace Harrison as Indy, I don’t think that’s ever going to happen. It’s certainly not my intention to ever have another actor step into his shoes in the way there have been many actors that have played Spider-Man or Batman. There is only going to be one actor playing Indiana Jones and that’s Harrison Ford.”

“Also, the last time we tried to replace Harrison, we bet on Shia LaBeouf. Soooo, yeah.”

Oh, and all this talk of Harrison Ford being Indiana Jones forever isn’t just idle chatter. From the sounds of it, Indiana Jones 5 is still a thing Spielberg wants to make happen.

“There are more adventures out there than films. So as long as there’s more adventures out there, I’ve got a bullwhip, a fedora, a leather jacket and a man on a horse who knows how to get the job done.”

Kingdom of the Crystal Skull had its problems, but Harrison Ford wasn’t one of them. Honestly, I kind of liked extra-rumpled senior citizen Indy, so what the hell, let’s give him one more chance to go out on the right note.
