James Gunn Says That Fans Still Haven’t Discovered The Biggest Easter Egg In ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’

As James Gunn gets ready to start production on Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, he took some time to answer questions from fans in one of his famous Facebook Q&A sessions. One of those questioners wanted to know if there was any unfinished business in regards to Easter eggs that were planted in the first movie. Lo and behold, there is one major secret that no one has stumbled upon yet. At least not to Gunn’s knowledge.

Gunn interacts a lot with his fans on social media and, when he can, he is all too willing to answer any questions they have about his movies. For this one, the exact question was “Have all the Easter eggs in GotG been revealed?” His answer: “They have not all been found. No one has found the big one, really.”

My hearts and stars, what is “the big one?” The Moby Dick of all Marvel Easter eggs! The landscape-changing earthquake of Marvel Easter eggs! And no one has it figured out yet? And this thing has been seen by movie geeks for more than a year on the big screen and at home? I promise you that, right now, some people (bloggers, most likely) are watching GotG frame by frame, slowing things down and examining this movie like they’re searching for Jimmy Hoffa. Except people have given up on finding Jimmy Hoffa. The blogosphere will undoubtedly stay awake, draining the world’s caffeine resources, until this thing is found.

Here’s a video with Guardians of the Galaxy Easter eggs we do know about:

The only one I didn’t hear mentioned is the fact that Laura Haddock, who played Peter Quill’s dying mother, also played an “autograph seeker” in Captain America: The First Avenger. But that couldn’t mean anything, could it? Could it?

What’s your guess on what The Big One could be?
