After the success of Daredevil, Marvel is looking to have another Netflix hit with Jessica Jones, starring Krysten Ritter as the hard-living former superhero turned detective. Details about the show have been trickling out slowly, with the first teaser released a few weeks ago.
This new teaser gives us a closer glimpse at Jones herself, struggling to wake up in the afternoon after what looks like a rough night. While we don’t get a full view of the extent of her powers, her super strength is obviously alive and well. Fans are certainly excited to see a complicated female character on screen, as Jones’ backstory is a dark one, and executive producer Melissa Rosenberg promises that the series will be even more extreme than the comics. While definitely its own entity, Jessica Jones will be a sort of sister series to the hugely popular Daredevil, with the upcoming Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders to follow. While these series exist in the same universe as the Marvel films, it’s intriguing to see a more grounded approach to super heroics, instead of just megalomaniacal robots and Infinity Stones.
Jessica Jones is set to premiere November 20th at 12:01, so binge watchers should start preparing as soon as possible.
