Kevin Smith Was A Stormtrooper In ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ Because Of Course He Was

While watching Star Wars: The Force Awakens, did you notice one of the stormtroopers moving more slowly than the rest? Possibly while wearing special white First Order-issued jorts? Okay, okay, I’m being mean – Kevin Smith didn’t physically play a stormtrooper in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but it’s been revealed he did voice one of them.

The Force Awakens‘ sound editor Matthew Wood recently provided an interesting and thorough rundown of the folks who provided voices for the movie’s many stormtroopers and random aliens. Kevin Smith voiced the ‘trooper who shouts, “We have incoming at 28.6! Move!” during the attack on Maz Kanata’s hideout. Is that line a drug reference? I’m going to assume it’s a drug reference.

Most of the other random voices in the movie were provided by Sam Witwer, Matt Lanter, Fred Tatasciore, Dee Bradley Baker and Catherine Taber, who hardcore Star Wars fans will recognize from their voice work for Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. According to Wood, there were even more celebrities who lent their voices to the movie, but they will have to “remain nameless for now.”

Hmmm, who could these nameless celebs be? We already know about Daniel Craig’s stormtrooper cameo, so you can cross him off the list. That just leaves, uh…the entire rest of Hollywood. Feel free to speculate wildly about who might have secretly contributed to The Force Awakens. I have my suspicions about the stormtrooper punch-dancing beside the Kevin Smith ‘trooper…
