Let’s Liveblog Monday’s Geeky TV: ‘Gotham’ Goes Out With A Boom

Gotham has spent most of its second season proving that it wants to be the most over-the-top series on television. Which has resulted in a highly entertaining and completely ridiculous viewing experience, rife with Gordon and Bullock running around with machine guns, the Penguin and the Riddler doing their best Oscar and Felix routine, and insane monks because why would you not have insane monks? Are you kidding? That’s restrained for this show; they rolled out organ-stealing pirates with a private island last season.

Last episode was largely setup for the finale, but it had some of the best moments on the show. Bruce Wayne showed the first glimmers of being the ice-cold Dark Knight he’s years away from turning into, Alfred got into a knockdown, drag-out fight with Theo Galavan’s sister, and Galavan was revealed to have some pretty slick moves himself.

The fall finale, however, appears to be putting the entire cast together for one purpose: To have Alfred, Bullock, and Gordon beat the ever-loving hell out of some angry monks, oh, and also save Bruce. And, seriously, we can’t wait. Although you do have to wonder why they don’t just send in Alfred. The guy has no trouble slapping around children, a bunch of monks obviously won’t bother him. We’ll find out tonight at 8 p.m. EST on Fox. Join us, won’t you?
