Like Quantum Leap Or Groundhog Day, But With Terrorists

Anne Hathaway isn’t in this movie. Yet here she is, shirtless. You’re welcome.

The first trailer for Source Code from director Duncan Jones (Moon) has just derailed a train of could-be-awesome into my brain.  It stars Jake Gyllenhaal (pronounced “yillin hoo-la hey“), who is part of a top secret project known as The Source Code. He awoke to find himself in the past, suffering from being too sexy and facing a mirror image that was not his own. Fortunately, contact with his own time was made every eight minutes, when he would die in a train bombing and return to his own body in the future. Returning to the past, Captain Colter Stevens finds himself leaping from some guy with a hot wife (Michelle Monaghan) to the same guy with a hot wife, putting things right that once went wrong and hoping each time that his next leap will be the leap home.

Okay, that’s actually “Quantum Leap” but close enough. I wasn’t the only one who was thinking about that show during this trailer, particularly during the mirror scene.  An io9 reader tweeted director Duncan Jones about the comparison, to which he replied:

@JDWRudy25 thought it might be a bit much to have him say “oh boy” in that scene. ;)

Yeah, I’m going to watch the hell out of this just because Duncan Jones is directing.
