This Luke Skywalker guy seems like a pretty swell person. As we reported, Mark Hamill recently brought a little Star Wars magic to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, and now he’s brightening the lives of young Star Wars fans overseas. Hamill was scheduled to appear on Britain’s popular Graham Norton Show with his fellow Star Wars: The Force Awakens castmates, but ultimately decided there were more important things than further promoting a movie that doesn’t require any more hype.

Instead, Hamill met with kids at London’s Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital. Of course, adorable pictures resulted. Here Mark gets a check-up from 3-year-old Finlay Laurence, who’s awaiting a kidney transplant.

Hamill discussed ducking out of his talk-show appearance, and what he gets out of visiting children’s hospitals

“Rather than going on TV chat shows I would rather give back somehow by going to hospitals. I want to do more of that. It feels wonderful. It can be harrowing emotionally because your heart goes out to these children but it’s also very uplifting. You walk away thinking that being an actor is so trivial compared to helping needy children.”

The Great Ormond Children’s Hospital is currently running the “Give to GOSH” campaign. If the holidays have you feeling in a charitable spirit, you can donate to the campaign right here.
