Milla Jovovich Has A Triple-Barrel Shotgun In The Trailer For ‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’

As hard as it might be to believe, there have been five Resident Evil movies. The surprisingly durable franchise largely makes its cash overseas, but that’s been enough to keep Milla Jovovich regularly working since 2002. And, to its credit, it still keeps its post-Matrix aesthetic, well after we started making fun of The Matrix. All things must pass, though, and this is supposedly the final chapter.

Well, the final chapter for Jovovich’s Alice and Ali Larter’s Claire Redfield, anyway. Ruby Rose, probably best known for her turn on Orange Is the New Black, but also turning up in XXX: The Return of Xander Cage and John Wick: Chapter Two, is playing a new character named Abagail, who seems likely to carry the franchise going forward. Much like Underworld, these movies do so well at the global box office and on home video it’s hard to imagine Sony letting a good thing roll to a stop.

The blowout will be interesting, though, as Alice returns to Raccoon City, fights a Wesker, and apparently, when we weren’t paying attention, they decided there are mutant dragons flying around the franchise now. Hey, give Paul W.S. Anderson this, he doesn’t do half measures. We’ll see just what this final chapter has in store January 27.
