“Silent Hill 2”? Really, Hollywood?

Unlike most nerds, I never had a huge affection for the Silent Hill games, so the fact that the movie sucked never meant much to me. You might notice Christophe Gans, the director who was hot at the time thanks to “Brotherhood of the Wolf”, went back to France after that one.

Anyway, apparently history is repeating, only this time in 3D. They’ve gotten a director, Michael Bassett, hot off a movie that nobody saw, in this case “Solomon Kane”, and apparently they’re recycling the cast.

Sean Bean, Deborah Kara Unger, and Radha Mitchell (last seen in the surprisingly good remake of “The Crazies”) are all coming back, but people looking to drag out the alleged mystery are saying it’s unclear in what role. Let me clarify, guys: they’re called “flashbacks”. Supposedly Sean Bean’s character will have a different name, or maybe the movie is planning on messing with us. Considering this is “Silent Hill”, probably the latter.

Either way, I just want to see “Solomon Kane” legally. Hollywood can hand a miserable hack like Marcus Nispel a $100 million budget to make “Conan the Samoan” but they can’t scrounge up the money for an action movie that has an 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes?
